Today In Elvis History: July 30

elvis_presley_gallery_7July 30, 1957: Elvis’ film, “Loving You,” was wide-released across the U.S.

“Loving You” was Elvis’ second film, a follow-up to “Love Me Tender.” The film was released by Paramount Pictures on limited screens on July 9, 1957. “Loving You” was Elvis’ first movie in Technicolor, and it was the first of his movies to feature Elvis as the main star. The film’s story mirrors Elvis’ rise to fame, and both Elvis’ mother and father make cameo appearances in the movie. After his mother’s death, Elvis refused to ever watch the movie again.

If I’m seen with someone new,
don’t be blue, don’t be blue.
I’ll be faithful I’ll be true;
always true, true to you.
There is only one for me, and you know who.
You know that I’ll always be loving you.
